It’s amazingly simple, actually! The key is controlled healing. In medical terms “Selective Inflammatory Response”, it is the principle behind a lot of aesthetic procedures (such as Fractional Laser, Chemical Peels & MicroNeedling). Our skin is very good at repairing itself, and by inserting NOVATHREADS® we make it ‘heal’ itself by creating new collagen, naturally!
Your skin gently reacts to the inserted threads
The PDO suture is fully absorbable. During the 4 to 6 months needed to fully absorb the PDO suture, your skin is also repairing itself around it. NOVATHREADS® injections come in two forms: NU MESH® and NU LIFT®.
NOVATHREADS® are loaded into a needle that looks much like and IV catheter, which is usually placed by a nurse in the ER or prior to surgery so medications can be given into a vein. It ranges from about an inch to 2 ½ inches depending on the procedure. The suture thread stays in as the needle is removed. Each thread takes less than a minute to be placed. Most all treatment areas require multiple thread placement, often in a fan-shaped pattern. Numbing medicine is applied to the skin before placement. There should be minimal discomfort and a slight redness may last 1-2 days.
NU MESH® does not have any immediate effects. As your body breaks down and chews up the PDO Thread, new collagen (like the mortar between bricks) is laid down and replaces worn-out collagen. NU LIFT® threads with cogs or loops can help anchor the threads and can provide immediate as well as prolonged results.
Often threads can be used with botulinum toxin (BOTOX®) or fillers (JUVEDERM® or DYSPORT®) and they complement each other’s effects. Though the thread “dissolves” in a couple of months, the effects my last several months.
